Mike, I am the webmaster of the Almond Historical Society website (Almond, Allegany County, NY). Most of the board members are not connected to the net, but a couple of members were. What I did was put up a "test site" and let them show the board the site. They approved it and we have had great success. There have been a number of connections and in a few months we've already had over 1,000 hits. If you want to take a look at what we did the site is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyahs/AlmondHS.html I would be happy to help you out if you would like. I am not a pro by any means but have learned a few things along the way. Good luck! The members of the Board are very afraid to address the use of computers within the organization. I run the web page out of my home, using free space given by a large genealogy site. The question(s) are; How does a small society begin to make use of computers? Is it more of a pain then it is worth? What are the benefits? How do you pay for web sites, upgrades, etc.? It would be very helpful to hear from small, volunteer organizations that have gone through this process. Thank you. Mike Riley Old Brutus HS Weedsport, NY >>
