There was a German physician, Frederick Wasmus, with Burgoyne's Army, sent with Baum to Bennington, captured and sent to Boston. His Diary covers everything from Quebec through Boston, and I think beyond. It has been translated by Helga Doblin, but I was not aware it had been published. You should contact the Saratoga Battlefield staff for leads. In the National Park Visitor's Center I saw a book (diary?) written by a German doctor with Burgoyne. Foolishly I did not buy the book. When I went back this summer to pick it up it was gone and of course no one at the Center knew where I might find the book (perhaps because I did not have the title.....). Does anyone know what the title might have been or where I might locate a book on this topic? Thanks Les Buell [log in to unmask]
