In response to the comment that "i didnt know the dutch were that dispersed
through out New england," yes, indeed, Dutch traders were dispersed
throughout both New England and the Chesapeake.  For example, Boston
merchant Jacob Melyen, whose daughter became Samuel Sewall's second wife,
was the son of Staten Island "patroon" Cornelis Melyn.  Maryland justice
Jacob Loockermans was the son of New Amsterdam merchant Govert Loockermans,
and brother of Elsie Tymens, wife of Jacob Leisler.  An extensive list could
be constructed of Dutch traders and settlers in both New England and the
Chesapeake; these are two such examples.
