If you are interested in the history of river navigation in the 18th century in New York State, just interested in what the Mohawk and Hudson rivers were like 200 years ago, or are trying to confirm a bit of geography or settlement data along the waterways from Albany to Rome on the west or Albany and  Whitehall on the north, take a look at http://www.nysm.nysed.gov/histmonth.html and scroll down to the hotlink "the report".
