GERMAN FLATTS — At least three booms of cannon fire sounded from the
east side of the field occupied by Confederate troops, signaling the
start of an intense battle with Union soldiers.

Except, these weren't real Confederate and Union soldiers from 150
years ago. This was part of the Living History Weekend at German
Flatts Town Park.

Living History Weekend is a three-day event held every year by the
Town of German Flatts and the Friends of the German Flatts Town Park,
where re-enactors camp on the grounds as 19th century Civil War
soldiers and give visitors a chance to see how life would have been
like then.
