Translating, Using, and Learning from documentary evidence of the Dutch in Colonial America will be the topic of a program presented by the members of the NYS Library, New Netherland Project, this Saturday, October 21st, 10:30am, at Siena College, Sarazen 243 (Student Union Building). This program is free and open to the public.
"The New Netherland Project-Inside Out" features three members of this prestigious translation project discussing why the 17th century Dutch Colonial documents of New York are so important, some fascinating information they have uncovered, and what these primary source materials have revealed about Dutch colonial life, including the prominent early Albany area Van Rensselaer family. Discussion will include the editing and research skills needed in dealing with the Project’s ongoing publication of New Netherland documents and topical papers.
Please join Dr. Charles Gehring (Project Director), Dr. Janny Venema (Associate Director), and Dr. Martha Dickinson (Editor and Researcher), for a compelling glimpse into this pivotal period in New York history.
