Subject: The Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue
Can readers tell me, or suggest a resource for establishing which are the
oldest institutions in New York City with an unbroken history?
I am researching the material culture of the congregation of the Spanish and
Portuguese Synagogue (1654), and would like to establish its chronological
place among the longest-standing institutions in the city.
Many thanks.
