Dear Gat:
I first read of the Delhi Gazette in Boston Herald for Monday, June 10, 1991.
I inquired of the Delaware County Historian John E. Raitt,,and he was kind
enough to send me a Photostat copy of the article dated July 20, 1825. It
listed the nine players under the challenge of a dollar per game. The game
was called BASS-Ball. It would be very interesting to know what rules the
game was played under. My Barber family were early settlers of Delhi later
Hamden, and I was hoping there was a Barber on the team. Alas no luck. If you
would like a copy of the article let me know.
Bob
