If you have relatives who worked in Schenectady, there's a good chance they
were employed in the railroad industry or at the General Electric plant.
Relive the days of Schenectady's industrial glory with some recent additions to
the Schenectady Digital History Archive!

General Electric:

* 1926 personnel manual - and you thought it took you a long time to accrue

* The Shop Apprentice System for Boys - this booklet explains the careers
available to young men who joined the apprentice program, with photos of them
in class and at work. Includes detailed course listings and names of those who
graduated through 1917.

* Schenectady Works Welcomes You - a 1949 tourist brochure depicting the
variety of General Electric products and facilities.

* Growing with Schenectady - the illustrated American Locomotive Co. centennial

* 150th Anniversary Covers - issued for the sesquicentennial of ALCO's
predecessor, the Schenectady Locomotive Works.

* Trolley Trips in the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys - tourist brochure from the
Schenectady Railway Co.

* Technical Manuals - if you've ever wondered what it was like to run one of
the old locomotives, read the "Manual for Enginemen" for an Alco-GE diesel-
electric, or study the schematics for the coal distribution system of a 1914
street locomotive stoker!
