Hello

Am forwarding this from the Hessian list as I thought some or
all of it would be of interest to some of you.

God Bless

Hello Hessians, here are some more interesting things for you
to see, Murray is not a member of our mail list, but his interests
are great as you can see. His ancestors were Loyalists who fought
side by side with the British and the Hessians, and thus his
interest in the American Revolution. Enjoy,
John

 Hi John,

Glad you like those other maps.

The original Battle map of Saratoga, 1777 was lost during the
bombing of Berlin during WWII. The following map is a reconstruction
from USGS data and illustrated as where the suspected redoubts
were based on personal journal accounts (I didn't do this work but
only hosting it).

I belong to the Historical Miniature Gaming Society, East Coast
Branch. A number of miltiary miniature enthusiats are recreating
a 54mm (each figure approx 2.25" tall) wargame this Spring
(2001), based on the Battle of Bennington, 1777 and the more
ambitious project of the Battle of Saratoga, Freeman's Farm
possibly including Breymann's redoubt. The War game
reinactments event is held tri-annually in Lancaster PA. I only
attend the spring "Cold Wars" segement, which is open to all
periods of warefare.

The Cadets from West Point make this event every year, though
their previous Major (who I've met) has been dutifully shipped
to Korea. His replacement is equally eager. Players from all
over North America attend, with some attending internationals
(Australia, England, Bahrain etc)

Last spring we successfully reinacted the Battle of Chippawa,
1814, with the surprising result, that it followed closely the
historical events (my ancestors fought there).

German Hessian Grenadiers, Brunswick Dragoons, German
Chausseurs, and Jeager's will be represented. John McComb
(aka MACOMB) will be with Col. Francis Von Pfister in the Tory
redoubt. The current version of the gaming table plan can be
 viewed at:

Please keep in mind that we are limited to table top dimenisons,
therefore the relative distances have been forshortened while
attempting to maintain key components of battle (see Durnford's
map for scale).

[main ref: Ketchum's account, and an 1877 Coburn account
which includes the supposedly bogus account of a German officer
named Clitch].
