I see in French's Gazetteer that on Jul 4, 1654 (no the courts weren't
closed for the holiday) that Manhattan's Dominies Hook, on the North
(Hudson) River between Duane and Canal streets, is acquired by ground brief
from Peter Stuyvesant.

Anyone out there familiar with a ground brief? Something akin to eminent
domain?

TIA
