If the author of the letter was writing from around Philadelphia, the
reference could have been to the community known now as Plymouth Meeting in
Whitemarsh Township or Plymouth Township itself. These communities are east
of Norristown and Valley Forge, basically on the route Washington's troops
took to Valley Forge while fleeing north west on Germantown Pike after
losing the Battle of Germantown.

Given that the author was a Quaker and these communities were Quaker
communities, the assumption that the Plymouth in question was the community
now known as Plymouth Meeting is even stronger. The "meeting" part of the
name explicitly marks the community as a place where the monthly Quaker
meeting took place.
