Two unrelated questions:

Does anyone know a good source of information on early 19th century carding
and fulling mills? The Carmel Town Historian is working on storyboards for
a park site that once had (perhaps) the earliest carding mill in the US and
a fulling mill (as well as the usual grist, saw, and cider).

Second question: is there a good source of information about the office of
county sheriff in NYS from earliest days on?? We have someone in the
Putnam County Archives researching the history of the Putnam County sheriff
and would like to put what he learns in a broader context.
