JOHNSTOWN - The Johnstown Historical Society will host "General Dodge
Day" in the city Sept. 21.

Richard Dodge, an early settler of Johnstown, was a veteran of the
Revolutionary?War and the War of 1812, as well as a merchant,
postmaster and mason, a news release said. His wife, Ann Sarah Irving
Dodge, the sister of the famous author Washington Irving and the
mother of six children, will be paid tribute as well.

A dedication ceremony will take place at the grave site at 2 p.m.
Sept. 21, with re-enactors in Revolutionary War and War of 1812 dress.
There will be a mini-encampment with re-enactors performing marching,
musket and cannon drills. A children's artillery drill will be
conducted at 10:45 a.m. and again at 3:15 p.m. There will be other
activities for children throughout the day.
