Subject: [NYHIST-L] Early History of Distilling in New York State

I am looking for any and all information regarding distilling,
distilleries, stills, taverns, farm distilling, production of whiskey,
applejack, fruit brandies etc., etc., in New York State.
Particularly earlier periods (Who, what, where, when, and how ).
I am helping to gather research and write a book on distilling in New York
State and looking for any references to this subject.
From what we can tell very little research has been done on this subject and
any and all help, leads, resources, will be acknowledged and shared to add to
everyones elses knowledge base once we assemble our information.
Possible other references also may include will and probates records (
stills have been listed in wills as valuable property) along with land and
tax records.
Thanks to all in advance !
Cheers,
Chris
