I have my doubts about whether it would go back that far, but the area which
is now Bryant Park behind the New York Public Library was a reservoir in the
19th century.  The park is currently bounded by 6th Avenue, 42nd street and
40th street.  It's possible that there was a natural lake in that location
prior to its development as a reservoir.

I'm not sure where Bloomingdale Road is/was or whether the "Lake Tour Road"
would have passed by this particular body of water.
