My thanks to the many of you who responded to my query (and thanks also for
not pointing out my typo (and not sending me population figures for
Albansy)). I had no idea I would set off such an interesting thread. I did
realize that Albany did not exist in 1650, I should have just said in the
area of today's Albany.

I'm going to guess it was several hundred (2-3) at that time. Thanks again.
