There are no official counts for the year 1700 but you can come up with an
estimate from O'Callaghan's "Documentary History of New York."  I didn't
search completely but in the vol. 3 index it states: "Population of Fort
Orange and of Mahattan island, 47, 48; of the city and county of albany, in
1710, 897."

I checked page 897 and it is a report from the head of the Dutch church and
gives his rough estimates.

Those are about the only places that were settled by 1700, perhaps around
Schoharie also but that's the best I can come up with.

You might also look in "Documents Relative to Colonial New York" which I do
not own.
