Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps were generally made for larger cities, so Genesee County may or may not be included. These maps are invaluable in that they show accurate lot and building lines, building name and owner, type of construction (brick, wood, stone), etc. When ownership or construction changed, the Sanborn Map Co. mailed supplemental sheets to its subscribers who glued the pieces onto their maps.

You should check this reference (this copy is in NY State Library):

Are there any Sanbourn and Parris Fire Insurance maps for Livingston County? If so, where would I find copies of them (microfilm or otherwise)?
