Good Morning [Harry Bradshaw Matthews]

On behalf of the members of the United States Colored Troops Institute for
Local History and Family Research, I am pleased to announce that Vol. 2, No.
2 issue of the USCT Civil War Digest is now available. A single copy of the
6-page newsletter can be obtained for a donation of $1 and 50 cents mailing;
12 copies are available for a $10 donation and $2 mailing. This May 2000
issue includes:

1. Harrisburg Remembers T. Morris Chester [only black correspondent of a
major newspaper during the Civil War; includes photograph, and a picture of
his tombstone with note of error];
2. Identifying Your Civil War Ancestors [picture of Maj. Martin R. Delany,
1865, with name of artist];
3. Editor's Choice (of books) for Family Research;
4. Native American USCT Honored [Suffolk County, NY, with rare photo of
R.I. Narragansett totem pole];
5. Finding Underground Railroad Clues in Small Villages and Towns [with
historic emancipation photo];
6. Bibliography Highlighting U.S. Colored Troops;
7. The Griot Recalls: Anna E. Dickinson [with rare 1869 photo of the beloved
abolitionist];
8. USCT Institute's Membership.

Mailings of this issue will be forwarded to USCT Institute members and
subscribers beginning Monday, June 5th. Copies of the issue will also be
available at the USCT Institute's booth at the Grand Review 2000 Civil War
event at Harrisburg, PA, June 9-11, 2000.
