I recently posted with my web page "An Inventory and Geographical Index of
Upstate New York State Tombstone Carvers."

http://www.erols.com/weiskotten/CarverInventory.html

I know it is far from complete, and that others are doing / have done
similar work (New York State Historical Association and the Association of
Gravestone Studies, in particular). I have more notes, especially
regarding the Cortland County carvers, and will add them when the
opportunity arises.

Does anyone know of similar available inventories, histories of carving
upstate, etc.? I'm particularly interested in the shale / sandstone
carvers of Central NY but will appreciate any info on the craft / industry.
