I am pleased to announce that the Fall 2000 issue of the USCT Civil War
Digest should be ready for mailing this week. The four-page newsletter will
be sent to all USCT Institute members, along with the 2nd Anniversary Extra
Issue [four-pages also] which is primarily a partial reprint from
"Regimental Losses in the American Civil War 1861-1865," by William F. Fox,
1889. The specific partial reprint is entitled, " The Colored Troops -
History of Their Organization - Their Losses in Battle and Disease." A copy
of the Digest or the Extra Issue is available for a $1 donation and 50 cents
for mailing payable to Hartwick College. There is also the opportunity to
acquire 12 copies in any combination of the Digest and Extra Issue for $10
and $2 mailing.

The primary articles of this issue of the Digest include:

1. USCT of Civil War: Planning Focus for 2002 National Symposium [ include
goals];
2. "Wall of Honor, New York," Unveiled at Hartwick [with pictures];
3. Cypress Hills National Cemetery: A Mecca for Honoring USCT.

Colleges and Universities' publication, "The Independent Sector, October

Finally, I wish to thank those of you who have helped to make the 2000 year
a success with more than 100 dues-paying members from 12 states, Washington,
DC, and Ontario, Canada. Membership applications [$25 dues] are now
available for 2001 [Jan-Dec]. Active members will have the opportunity to
vote at our June 2001 meeting for a new board of directors for the USCT
Institute. In addition, active members will be invited to attend Planning
Summit 2001 during early October at Oneonta, New York, to help prepare an
agenda for action regarding our 2002 historic events, including a national
conference.
