One book, which I believe has been mentioned on the list before is _Mohawk
River Boats and Navigation Before 1820_ by Robert E. Hager, published by
The Canal Society of New York State in Syracuse. (311 Montgomery Street;
Syracuse NY; 13202; IBSN 0-9618172-0-8.)

It contains sample plans for a colonial military bateau, a Mohawk River
bateau. a Schenectady boat, and a Durham boat.
