Howdy!

I was hoping someone could help me out with a quick bibliographic
question.

About seven years ago I bought a c. 1860 house which I have been
restoring ever since. I have often wondered how homes were built in that
very pre-hydraulics & -power tool age. Does anyone know of in or
out-of-print books of scholarly articles which address the history of
home construction in America?

Thanks in advance for your help.
