Here are a few pre-1850 Post Offices established in Richmond County.
Source: New York Postal History: The Post Offices and First Postmasters from
1775 to 1980

It would appear that what is now Tompkinsville had the first federal post
office in Richmond County in 1815, followed in 1822 by the countyseat.

Name & Date Established; any change of name before 1898:

Castleton: 8 April 1815 >>Tompkinsville [1825]
Cityville: 21 January 1830 >> North Shore [1840] {>> West New Brighton 1870}
Richmond: 20 April 1822
Richmond Valley: 7 February 1829 .... closed 1863
Rossville: 6 February 1824  .... closed 1826
Rossville: 19 September 1835
South Side: 15 May 1849 >> Sea Side [1872]
Stapleton: 7 April 1847
