York staters,

I've recently come across a reference to an Arthur Erwin who acted as a
guide to Charles Williamson in 1792, when the new agent for the Pulteney
land interests first arrived in the Finger Lakes region. He's not mentioned
in other Williamson material I have on hand. A quick search of the digital
RootsWeb chapters available of French's Gazetteer yields a reference to an
Erwin Cemetery in Livingston County.

Who was this Arthur Erwin and why would he be chosen to give Williamson the
grand tour - Savona to Bath to Keuka Lake, to Geneva? Is the Erwin Cemetery
a family plot and connected to Arthur?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

David
