 (I'd say AHL-mund  or AL-mund for the nut...)

We pronounced it Al-mund.  (like the name Al).  It was named while the
pioneers were sitting in a meeting passing around a bowl of Almond nuts.
Beats me why the decided on that, guess there was no one there ready to name
after someone other than themselves.
