Well, parts of what is now columbia county were claimed by massachusetts,
as well as parts of massachusetts were claimed as part of new york during
that period.  i believe that boston corners got its name later than that.

'under boston government' would lead me to look at the canaan, hillsdale
area.  there is also cummington in massachusetts, which was part of the
area under dispute as well, though i don't believe they ever saw any
action there and am not sure of the founding date.
