NYHIST-L, the electronic discussion list for New York history, is 10 years old. The listserv was established in September 1995. The postings in that month exhibited a wide range of historical interests:

--Delaware & Hudson Railroad branch line to Adirondack mines
--A "gabby cabby" in New York City, with his own website
--Thousand Islands history
--Women's role in the Underground Railroad
--Red Jacket's comparison of George Washington and Andrew Jackson

By late 1995 NYHIST-L had about 225 subscribers. Today, there are 520. Thank you to all subscribers who have posted inquiries, and to all who have responded. If you have a question about any topic in New York history, one or more NYHIST-L subscribers will almost certainly have an answer!

Thank you, also, to the New York State Education Department, which hosts NYHIST-L, and to the SED ITS staff members who provide technical support.
