CALL FOR ENTRIES

Historic Albany Foundation to Present
VACANCY: Albany’s Abandoned Buildings Through Artists’ Eyes

ALBANY, NY (9/16/2002) – Historic Albany Foundation is seeking entries for
an art show and sale to be held in Albany on Saturday, November 16, 2002.
"VACANCY: Albany’s Abandoned Buildings Through Artists’ Eyes" will feature
works from local, regional and national artists, presenting a variety of
artistic views of Albany’s architectural treasures. Well-known historical
artist Len Tantillo will serve as Honorary Chair of the event.

A portion of the proceeds from sales of artwork displayed in the show will
benefit Historic Albany Foundation’s education, advocacy and preservation
work. A cash prize will be offered for the work deemed Best in Show by a
panel of judges.

Artists are encouraged to submit original paintings, drawings, photographs,
prints, and sculpture inspired by Albany’s vacant buildings. The event will
promote the efforts of Historic Albany Foundation’s Vacant Buildings
Initiative. Attendees of the opening reception will also receive information
about some of the buildings featured in the works of art – including their
history, their condition, and information on what it would take to restore
them and return them to active use.

Artists are asked to notify the event committee of their intention to submit
artwork for the exhibition by Friday, October 25, 2002. A prospectus for
"VACANCY: Albany’s Abandoned Buildings Through Artists’ Eyes" is posted on
the Foundation’s web site at
http://www.historic-albany.org .
