Edna Ferber - Saratoga Trunk

Edmond (I think)- Drums along the Mohawk

Vrooman - Promised land. (although half the book is set in Germany and
England. It's about the Palatine Germans)

James Fenimore Cooper books

You might do a search in your library's catalog under new york state -
history - fiction or something simlar. You'll find much more than you could
ever use.
