On 7/3/01 (8:13:08 AM EDT), an eMail from Warren Broderick
([log in to unmask]) on towns that have been abolished since 1865 was
posted and included the following which, as stated in the eMail, need
correction:

Towns abolished since 1865

Town of Flatbush        became part of New York City                    1897
The Town of Flatbush was annexed by the City of Brooklyn in 1894.

Town of Flatlands       became part of New York City                    1897
The Town of Flatlands was annexed by the City of Brooklyn in 1896.

Town of Flushing        became part of New York City                    1897
The Town of Flushing was annexed by New York City in 1898.

Town of Gravesend       became part of New York City                    1897
The Town of Gravesend was annexed by the City of Brooklyn in 1894.

Town of Jamaica became part of New York City                    1897
The Town of Jamaica was annexed by New York City in 1898.

Town of New Lots        became part of New York City                    1897
The Town of New Lots was annexed by the City of Brooklyn in 1886.

Town of New Utrecht    became part of New York City     1897
The Town of New Utrecht was annexed by the City of Brooklyn in 1894.

Town of Newtown became part of New York City    1897
The Town of Newtown was annexed by New York City in 1898.
