Try Albany City Historian Virginia Bowers, reachable through the Mayor's office at 518/434-5100, and the Albany County Hall of Records, 518/447-4500, ask for Greg Carlson, the County's archivist. You might also try the Albany Institute of History and Art 518/463-4478.

Dear Listmembers:

I am trying to locate the library or archive that might have an image of the
city seal adopted by Albany in 1752. I have seen an image of this seal in
only one place, a book entitled *Albany's Tercentenary* (Albany, 1924) [no
author attributed].

It features a picture of a beaver, with "Albany" above it and "1752" below
it. A reference to the adoption of the seal by the Corporation of Albany
can be found in Joel Munsell, *The Annals of Albany*, 10 volumes (Albany,
1850-59) 10:149-50.

I would like to reproduce an image of the seal in a forthcoming book. Do
any listmembers have suggestions for tracking it down? Feel free to contact
me directly at [log in to unmask]

Many thanks, Tim Shannon
