Hello, Kathy. I forwarded your query yesterday, to records managers from the two counties which are in region 7. You may hear directly from Carolyn Vacca, the Monroe County Historian, who is very likely to have answers for you from her geographical area. Livingston County Records Management Officer (RMO) Katharine Montemarano has answered me by fax, sending the following message:

"Sorry, no luck. I'm not even sure if there was such a thing as school taxes 1820 - 1850. Livingston County has school records (not taxes) that start in 1871. The Historian has none that early. Towns and villages have none that old. Property tax records start here around 1858. ----Kathy Montemarano"

I hope this information will be helpful to you for your research. Best wishes, Gail Fischer/ Region 7 RAO

Hello list -

Does anyone know which towns in which counties kept school tax records
between 1820 & 1850? I am specifically concerned with Uster, Monroe,
Livingston and Genesee counties.
Thanks for your help
-Kathy
