Re Josh Brown's request for books on Sing Sing.

In addition to "From Newgate to Dannemore" by Lewis already well recommended,
try also Fred E. Haynes' "The American Prison System," McGraw-Hill, New York,
1939, and Prof. Nicole Hahn Rafter's "Partial Justice: Women in State
Prisons 1800 -- 1935," published by her Northeastern University's press in
1985. The latter will give you a look inside what was Sing Sing's "women's
annex."
