In this case BM does not mean Bench Mark. There are a number of foundation
stones, each with the name of one man who contibuted in someway to the
construction of the Schoharie Reformed Church, now the Old Stone Fort. Two
of these names of the letters BM immediately after them. It is said that
after the Revolution the names of those who were Loyalists were chisled out.
