We have had a request for the original text on a marker, apparently erected by the State Education Department in Jefferson County, that refers to incidents from the War of 1812, including "Horse Island".

The marker was destroyed many years ago, and we can not find a record of it in our database or hard copy files.

If anyone has information about this sign, please contact me.
