Happy 2002, Received the following query recently. Any ideas?

Thank you,
David Minor

This was part of a discussion on a boatbuilding list.

Do you know what a Pungalo looks like?
Was the boat this fellow built later part of some historical exhibit?

"Any story of motivation/perseverance in boatbuilding reminds me of a man in upstate NY who undertook to construct a "pungalow", which was an old Erie Canal cargo carrier. There were none left afloat, and no plans existed, but he had been involved in their construction years before, and figured he might be the only one left with the know-how. He completed it 20 years later at the age of 91."
