Phil Lord and Dan Larkin are the sources that come to mind and they have
already been suggested. Since Wright worked down here in VA for the last
years of his life, I'm posting the question and some info to the VA-HIST
list and will forward any info that comes in.

In the mean time Noble E. Whitford's 1906 _History of the Canal System of
the State of New York_ can be found on-line at:

http://www.history.rochester.edu/canal/bib/whitford/1906

Some heavy reading, but educational. There are many scannng-induced typos
(ie Port Stanwix, nearby Some, and Berkimer County!) but it is better than
nothing!
