"A Program of Historic Holiday Music"

This is a unique program in which Sondra and John arrive laden with instruments from the 18th century. They explain the instruments' history and play period tunes, peppering the program with wonderful historical anecdotes and historical tidbits. The Bromkas will play instruments inventoried at Johnson Hall, the krumhorn, hautboy, fiddle, flute, french horn, and harp. Sir William brought a blind Irish harper, Sean Kane [O'Cahaugh] to tenant his property. The Bromkas will use the historic information documented in the Johnson Papers to make their program even more relevant to the Johnson residence and local audience.

This portion of this program is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts administered by the Schoharie County Arts Council

Additional activities for the day: Annual holiday celebration with period decorations, sleigh rides, games, dancing, an 18th century domestic encampment presented by re-enactors, and mulled cider and gingerbread. Holiday herb crafts, books and other small items will be available for purchase. Also performing will be the Johnstown High School Madrigal Choir.
