Niagara Falls did not run dry in March of 1903. It did in March of 1848.


1900

July 31  The Niagara, St.Catharines & Toronto Railway opens interurban
service between St.Catharines and Niagara Falls, Ontario, with running
rights across the Upper Steel Arch Bridge to the Buffalo & Niagara Falls's
interurban terminal in Niagara Falls, New York.


1901

July 14 Carisle Graham makes his fifth and final barrel run through the
Niagara River's Whirlpool Rapids. He nearly suffocates in the attempt when
his barrel gets caught in an edy on the American side. The barrel has only
one air hole.

September 6  Martha Wagenfurther shoots the Niagara River's Whirlpool
Rapids.

September 7  Maud Willard, using Carisle Graham's barrel, suffocates in an
attempt to shoot the Whirlpool Rapids when the barrel gets caught in the
Whirlpool and her dog, which she took with her, sits on her face and hogs
the air hole. It was planned as part of the a double stunt, with Carisle
Graham joining her at the Whirlpool and swimming alongside the barrel,
through the Lower Rapids, to Lewiston. When barrel arrived at the
Whirlpool Graham dove in and successfully swam to Lewiston.

October 12 Peter Nissen successfully shoots the Whirlpool Rapids in his
boat the Fool Killer.


1902

February 21  The International Railway Company is created from several
earlier trolley companies in the Buffalo area. Operates streetcars in
Buffalo, the Tonawandas, Niagara Falls and Lockport, with interurban
service from Buffalo to Niagara Falls, Lockport and Olcott Beach.

September 7 C.A. Percy successfully shoots the Whirlpool Rapids in a boat
taking the only known cargo along, a keg of beer.
