The Schenectady County Public Library has subscribed to Ancestry for a
number of years, but sometimes it seems to be one of our best-kept
secrets. :-)

While most our database services are available from home, this one is
only for use in the Central Library. It's not restricted to users
with Schenectady library cards, however - anyone who visits the
library has access to the library edition of Ancestry (which is a
little different from the consumer version). We have 3 computers
dedicated to database use so you don't have to compete with the
general Internet users, or you may bring your laptop and use it via
our free wireless service.

When you're visiting, we have a microfilm scanner for use with our
vast collection of newspapers, and don't forget to check out our many
city directories, yearbooks and dozens of drawers of newspaper
clippings dating back to the 1940s. Let me know if you have any
questions!
