Many of you may want to bookmark the "New York WWW Links by Subject"
page, which is part of The Making of New York Web site. This site is
sponsored by the eleven comprehensive research libraries in the state, and
is part of an initiative to make available materials relating to New York
history in digital form. The URL for the links page is
http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/nycrl/sitelink.htm

I have recently agreed to serve as webmaster for this site. The set
of pages I have inherited are rather uneven, but I have added a good deal
of content to the "history" and "people" sections of the site. A team of
librarians working at the major research libraries in the state will be
working to upgrade the site further. Our aim is to provide a comprehensive
collection links to sites dealing with New York history, and to serve as a
gateway to sites providing information about other aspects of New York. A
unique feature of this site (which I hope will grow rapidly) is a
collection of direct links to digital texts relating to New York history.
