Emergency Operation Center: The State's Response to 9/11

Edward Jacoby, Director of the State Emergency Management Office, Laura Sahr from the State Education Department and Bill Bullard from the Department of Health will discuss how the agencies of New York State government responded to the attack on the World Trade Center.

The State's actions protected lives, property and the environment in ways that were often unseen and unheralded. How did 50,000 doses of tetanus get moved to lower Manhattan in just 4 hours? How did the Education Department help the students and teachers in schools near Ground Zero? Learn about what goes on in the Emergency Operation Center - the central command center for the State's response to emergencies.

Kathleen Roe, Chief of Archival Services for the State Archives, will moderate the discussion and explain how New York's response to 9/11 is being documented for the future.
