Sites of Union Army occupation on the James River near Petersburg VA in 1864 are the subjects of pages recently added to the NYS Museum website at <http://www.nysm.nysed.gov>. Four pages of images and an introductory essay begin at <http://www.nysm.nysed.gov/history/civilwar/index.html> and reveal aspects of the City Point complex, Westover, Harrison's Landing, Fort Pocahontas, and other locations as seen through the eyes of twenty-three-year old Edward Lamson Henry. Henry (1841-1919) later became one of America's most prolific genre artists. This collection of some three dozen images also includes views of Washington DC, Fairfax VA, and the send-off for the 20th USCT regiment in NYC in 1864.
