The New York State Library and the New York State Archives are
separate agencies within the Office of Cultural Education and are located
on separate floors in the Cultural Education Center in Albany. The New
York State Archives is on the 11th floor. The New York State Library is
on the 7th floor.

To reach the State Library, write:

     New York State Library
     Cultural Education
     Albany, NY 12230
     518-474-5355 (reference)

     State Library Web Site: www.nysl.nysed.gov
     (telnet capability requires)

For more information about the State Library, see the above web site.

Note: The Manuscripts and Special Collections unit of the State
Library is located on the 11th floor of the Cultural Education Center. It
shares a reading room on 11 with the State Archives. But it is not part
of the State Archives, which is a separate agency.
