The Lake Ontario Archives Conference is pleased to announce their annual
conference, "Of Enduring Value:  Preservation in the Real World", June
13-15, at Ithaca College, Ithaca New York.

The conference begins with two half-day workshops on June 13th at Cornell
University.  We are pleased to have Michele Hamill, Paper and Photograph
Conservator for Cornell University Library, teaching preservation
of  photographic  materials, and Richard Strassberg, Director of the Kheel
Center for Labor-Management Documentation and Archives at Cornell
University, teaching archives security.

Friday's plenary speaker, John Dean, is Director of Cornell University
Library's Department of Preservation and Conservation.  His presentation is
entitled "Striving for Comprehensiveness in Preservation: Managing New
Preservation Technologies".

Friday night's banquet speaker, Milton Sernett, is author of the recently
released book North Star Country.  He will talk about the underground
railroad in New York.

Conference session topics include records appraisal, electronic records,
preservation grants, digital preservation, Cayuga land claims, and church
records.
