NEWS RELEASE
RELOCATION OF NEW YORK STATE ARCHIVES AND
NEW YORK STATE LIBRARY MANUSCRIPTS AND SPECIAL COLLECTIONS

Effective the week of February 5, the New York State Archives and the Manuscripts and Special Collections unit of the New York State Library will relocate their public research facility from the eleventh floor to the third floor of the Cultural Education Center, Empire State Plaza, Albany. The relocation will facilitate a $7.5 million renovation of the eleventh floor of the CEC, to be completed in 2003.

The relocated research room on the third floor of the CEC will be open to the public the same hours as the present research room: 9-5 Monday-Friday (except state holidays). Directional signs will be posted.

The State Archives and the Manuscripts and Special Collections unit of the State Library will be closed to the public MONDAY JANUARY 29 - FRIDAY FEBRUARY 2 to permit relocation of furniture and equipment. Telephone, e-mail, and photocopy services will be curtailed during the relocation period.

State Archives records and State Library manuscripts and other special collections have been moved to less accessible locations in order to prepare for the renovation of the eleventh floor of the Cultural Education Center. For information on the availability of materials, please contact:
