The Newburgh Free Library is pleased to announce a very special program for
librarians and genealogists as part of the celebration of National Library
Week.

On Saturday, April 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Auditorium and e-Learning
Center the Library will present: Roots on the Web: Practical Resources for
Harried Librarians and Genealogists. This session will discuss practical
approaches for using the Internet to answer genealogical reference questions.
 Eliminate endless searching &
vague bookmarks and zero in on web sites that provide information that you
and your patrons will actually use. See how your library can incorporate
e-Books, at no cost to the library, directly into your online catalog.

Online databases, e-Books and current trends in genealogical reference
books (in print and on the web) will be discussed.

Our presenter is Tom Kemp, a well known librarian and author. He is the Chair
of the ALA Genealogy Committee (RUSA/HS) and is the author of numerous books
and articles including The Genealogist's Virtual Library, Full-text Books on
the World Wide Web (Wilmington, DE: Scholarly Resources, 2000); International
Vital Records Handbook (Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Publishing, 4th World
Wide Web (Wilmington, DE: Scholarly Resources, 1997). His articles have ed.,
2000); and Virtual Roots: A Guide to Genealogy & Local History on the
regularly appeared in Library Journal, Archival Outlook etc.

This free program includes hands-on instruction in the new e-Learning Center
at the Newburgh Free Library.
