"Researching New York: Perspectives on Empire State History."

Upstate, Downstate, in cities and on farms, from soldiers to
sweatshop workers, intellectuals to agitators, from the Great Lakes
to the Adirondacks, Seneca Falls to Stonewall; the people and places
of New York State have a long, rich, and wide-ranging history. We
invite complete panel or individual paper proposals on any aspect of
New York State history for a conference sponsored by Department of
History and the History Graduate Student Organization on November 19,
1999 at the University at Albany. The conference will also include
a workshop on archival resources related to New York State history
and will provide an opportunity for those working on New York State
history topics to compare notes.

Proposals are due by September 17, 1999. Presenters will be
notified by September 30, 1999. Submit a one-page abstract for each
paper and a one-page curriculum vitae for each presenter to
<[log in to unmask]> or by mail to Researching New York,
Department of History, University at Albany, 1400 Washington Avenue,
Albany, New York 12222-0001.
